Geologist / Scientist Team Member Available Position

Job Description- Mid-Level Geologist/Scientist

Environmental Advisors and Engineers, Inc., (EAE), is seeking a highly-motivated, full-time or part-time geologist or other scientist in the Kansas City metro area to support continued expansion of the company. Opportunities are available for a Home Office work environment as a primary office location.

Primary responsibilities will include Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments (ESAs), environmental compliance assessments, and underground storage tank (UST) assessments, as well as technical assistance on water and wastewater engineering projects and participation in EAE’s nationwide construction financial oversight projects. As participants in a small woman-owned business, employees will be trained in and experience a wide variety of project work. Some field work and travel will be required.

Essential Duties


  • Phase I ESAs
  • Phase II ESAs and other environmental investigations
  • Review of Phase I and II ESAs
  • Compliance audits and planning
  • UST assessments

Municipal Water and Wastewater Engineering

  • Data analysis and management
  • Field investigations
  • Resident Engineering/Owner Representative services

Construction Financial Oversight

  • Payment application review
  • Field progress evaluations

Required Qualifications       

  • B.S. in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work independently from home office in the Kansas City Metro Area
  • Proven organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office software normally used in engineering consulting
  • Willingness to perform field investigations
  • Willingness to travel at least four days per month
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform and document construction observations from elevated platforms and roofs
  • Ability to perform and document construction observations in confined spaces
  • Approved credit card for car rental and travel-related expenses
  • Proof of in-force car insurance and valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Geology
  • Professional Geologist Registration
  • Working knowledge of UST systems and current (2014) Missouri Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) regulations
  • Initial 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper, Health and Safety training and annual refresher updates
  • Certification in NASSCO’s Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) and Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP)
  • Current OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety certification
  • Working level skills in ArcGIS
  • Safety experience, including confined space entry certification
  • Experience in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPs)
  • Experience in Construction Management/Administration/Resident Engineering
